About Us

The Nicholas Roth Memorial Trust was set up  in memory of Nicholas Roth, who died tragically in a climbing accident in Nicaragua in November 2004 aged 28. Nicholas was a lawyer who had a passion for human rights particularly those of underprivileged children. Before the accident Nick worked tirelessly in support of the Rwandan war tribunals, clocking up over 200 hours of pro bono work along the way. He also believed every child has the right to a proper education regardless of their background, and this inspired him to spend time each week helping inner city children to improve their reading skills.

Music was a large part of Nick’s life. It was through music and his guitar that he communicated with children he met on his travels around the world. He was an English graduate who was involved with drama productions, and loved to read and travel.

The aim of this trust is to improve the lives of underprivileged children across the world through education, music and drama, in memory of Nick. We have decided to support several different charities and have so far donated money to projects run by 3 extremely worthwhile charities:
  • SURF Survivors Fund
  • Karmiel Children’s Village
  • Tzedek
For more information on those projects please visit the Charities we support section of this site.
Our wish is to sponsor specific projects run by the charities we support so those who have donated money and supported our events can see exactly where their money has gone. It is through these projects that we help to keep Nick’s memory alive and remember our son, brother, uncle and friend who we miss more each day that passes.

Many thanks for supporting our trust and we hope to see you at an event soon.
